Session Read 2026-09-24: 19 of 20 Pairs Higher
This post covers the completed daily session of 2026-09-24 across the 20 USD-quoted crypto pairs tracked by Skia Paper from Coinbase Exchange daily candles. The table published alongside this piece shows each pair's close price, its open-to-close session change, its 7-day and 30-day changes, and where its close sat inside its own 30-day high-low range.
The session carried a broad-advance regime label — the strongest of the five coarse classifications used here. That label describes what the session did; it says nothing about what follows.

What the Session Did
On 2026-09-24, 19 of the 20 tracked pairs closed higher. The sole decliner was AVAX, which slipped -0.62% while still sitting 67% up its 30-day range — meaning even the session's weakest name remained well off its 30-day low. The median session change across all 20 pairs was +4.38%.
The session's strongest performer was FET, which gained +17.62% and closed at 94% of its 30-day range — near the top of the range it has traced over the past month. NEAR, while finishing sixth by session change at +5.96%, carried the largest 30-day figure in the table at +146.35%, and its range position of 92% reflects how far it has traveled over that longer window. APT (+7.09%) and OP (+6.98%) also showed 30-day figures above +29%, with both sitting at 83–86% of their respective 30-day ranges.
At the quieter end of the advance, BTC added just +0.01% on the session while ETH added +0.13% — both sitting in the 73–76% band of their 30-day ranges. The contrast between those two and the top of the table is captured in the dispersion figure: strongest minus weakest was 18.24 percentage points, a wide spread for a single session. The full pair-by-pair figures are in the table.

The Regime This Describes
A broad-advance label is applied when nearly all pairs in the tracked universe close higher in the same session. On 2026-09-24 that threshold was met emphatically — 19 of 20 higher, with the one decliner losing less than one percentage point. The neighbouring regime labels are mixed (roughly equal numbers of gainers and losers) and compressed (most pairs move, but within a narrow band). This session was neither: the participation rate was high and the moves were large enough to separate clearly from noise.
High dispersion within a broad advance — as seen here at 18.24 percentage points — distinguishes this session from a uniform lift. In a compressed advance, pairs move together within a tight spread. Here, the gains ranged from near-zero (BTC, ETH) to double-digit (FET, XLM, APT), indicating that the advance was broad in direction but uneven in magnitude. The range-position column in the table shows most pairs closing in the upper half of their 30-day ranges, with several above 80%, which reflects the cumulative drift of the prior month rather than only this session's move.
What These Conditions Mean for Execution Cost
On a session where the median move was +4.38% and the strongest pair moved +17.62%, the round-trip cost of a typical spot trade — taker fees in the range of 0.05% to 0.60% per leg depending on tier and venue, plus bid-ask spread — was a small fraction of the moves on show for the session's larger movers. For pairs near the bottom of the session's distribution, such as BTC at +0.01% and ETH at +0.13%, the same round-trip cost represented a much larger fraction of the session's price change, or exceeded it entirely.
Wide-dispersion sessions also tend to widen realized spreads on the faster-moving, lower-liquidity names. FET's +17.62% move occurred in a pair that carries a thinner order book than BTC or ETH; slippage on size in such a name during a sharp intraday move can be meaningfully larger than the quoted spread at rest. The cost observation here is directional: the larger the session move relative to the round-trip fee floor, the smaller the fee's proportional weight — and that relationship varied substantially across the 20 pairs on 2026-09-24.
What One Session Does Not Establish
A single session is a sample of one. The broad-advance label accurately describes what happened on 2026-09-24 and nothing else. It is a classification of a closed session, not a signal about the session that follows. Regime labels are applied after the fact; they do not have predictive validity on the basis of a single occurrence.
The 30-day figures in the table — NEAR at +146.35%, APT at +43.77%, FET at +40.46% — describe price changes that have already occurred over the prior 30 days. They do not indicate that those moves continue, reverse, or stabilize. Range positions above 80% describe where a close sat relative to a historical window; they do not establish resistance, targets, or any forward price level.
High breadth is a descriptive fact about 2026-09-24. A session with 19 of 20 pairs higher has occurred before in this universe and has been followed by sessions of every regime type. The structural failure of reading a single broad-advance session as evidence of a trend is that one data point cannot define a trend — it can only be consistent with one.
The 2026-09-24 session closed with the widest participation and one of the larger dispersion figures the tracked universe can produce; the record of what those 20 pairs did on that day is now fixed, and the table holds it.
